summer school here i come

Earlier this week I decided to take at least one class this summer. I never done summer school and the thought of going to school in the summer sounds like torture, but it's necessary. Also Casey will be trying to go back to school starting this summer so I won't be alone.

So to move on today...I decided before I take any classes I would see what I have left to take. I've been at ACC for a couple of years and I've taken a full load each semester. I saw one of the advisers on campus and found out that I only need 3 MORE CLASSES TO GRADUATE! I couldn't believe it. I kept thinking this is really happening. I'll be able to graduate soon, very soon.

The 3 classes I have left will take me 3 semesters to complete which is kind of a bummer but exciting. This summer I'm going to take History of Photography. Basically a snooze class and in the fall I'll be taking Studio Management. It should be too bad since it will be the only one. Then next summer I'll be taking Portfolio Development. It's an intense class. You're required to have a strong body of work and you have to be accepted into the class. A few people have told me that I already have a strong body of work but I want to wait and get it organized and possibly stronger.

Right now I'm still really excited about school being over. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

2 years...

Last Saturday was 2 years for me and Casey. 2 years! I never would of thought that would be possible. But I love him. I love him so much.

For his present I made an awesome picture frame/shadow box (inspired by miranda)

Here's the before:
It took me awhile to figure out what I was going to make him. Lately I've been having a craftster block. It's like writer's block but for crafty people. After talking to Miranda and getting inspired by all the cute little tings she's made or is making I went with the frame. Casey loves to hang pictures of us and place little things on his shelves.

Here's the after:

I was also able to make him a card out of the leftover supplies. It's really simple but meaningful.

Here's a close-up of the front:

where has the time gone?

I can't believe how long it has been since I've typed something. But no worries I will definitely make up for it because a lot has happened the past 3 weeks. I'm going to post different ones so it won't be a massive post that no one will read. Expect to see a lot of updates in the coming week.

For Jenny...

So earlier today Jenny came up to me and asked why I had not blogged in awhile? I told her I've been busy/too tired to do it. After my response to her she sighed. Since she sighed so heavily and seemed really concerned, I decided to make a short blog dedicated to Miss Jenny.

3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT JENNY:
  1. She has the biggest heart for her husband and the Lord.
  2. I love to watch her laugh. You should watch her the next time she's around.
  3. You can call her anytime to talk about anything. Unless you call her during bathtime, running time, or when she's eating. I would suggest that you text her. She always answers those.
I've only known Jenny for a few months, but I feel like I've known her a lot longer. I can't wait to spend more time with her and discover more little things I love about her.

School's Starting!

I'm excited because the spring semester is finally here. I'll be taking "real" classes this semester. English, Speech and Accounting. Woohoo! I really am excited about the classes. I know it will be difficult but worth it. I'm also sure that I will be talking about these classes in the future.

I really don't have anything else to talk about besides me feeling like poop today. Blahhhhh, would be a great way to describe it. Hopefully I'll feel better in the morning...

facebook connection

Yesterday I was on facebook and a name popped up on the "people you may know" thingy. At first I wasn't for sure if that was really her, but I went with my gut and added her with a personal note.

This person is Julie Felder. She was my favorite babysitter in the entire world. Not exaggerating at all. I was around 5 or 6 when she would take care of me and my sisters. She was an important part of my life.

Today when I checked my facebook, she not only approved my request but wrote on my wall, commented on pictures and wants to know more. I couldn't help it when I saw this. She remembered me! Little bitty Whitney! Another thing, Julie is still as beautiful or more than I remember.

I don't think you could understand how happy, sad, whatever other girly, oh my gosh, I love you so much emotions are happening. Here's a picture of my sisters and I around the age she watched us and a picture of her with her hollywood fiance.

A change of heart

For as long as I can remember I've said I'm going to be a portrait photographer. Have a studio and lots of equipment, etc... Well, recently the Lord is leading me to photojournalism. I've always enjoyed photojournalism but I never understood what it was. I've always thought that you have to be a brilliant writer to even consider photoj, and I've always been afraid of words. But honestly that doesn't matter. As I've grown up and learned more about photography, I've realized I have a voice and that voice inside of me is longing to get out.

I'm still going to finish my degree at ACC and have my associates in Portraiture, but I'm not for sure if I'm going to own a studio. I know photography is in my future and I know missions work is there too. I don't know how I'll incooporate all of this or where I'll be down the road. Normally I would be terrified out of my mind not knowing what I'll be doing etc, and I'm still slighty scared. But I'm starting to see the beauty in all of this. Now is the time when I have to trust in my Heavenly Father and seek His will for what's next. I know it's going to be hard and long. But I also know that whatever the Lord desires for me is more than I could ever imaginge.
